God gave us memory
so that we might have
roses in December.
– James M. Barrie
And cameras so that we don’t need to rely on our memories, I guess. This seems like a better idea every day.
These photos, of course, were taken just yesterday in a place where God gives us roses in January. She also gave us an upright and bushy-tailed rodent of some sort . . .
. . . a rehearsal scene from the ducky remake of The Three Musketeers (whose well-paid principals are still working on striding down the street/beach in unison) . . .
. . . and some lovely views of a formidable bird who strides to the beat of his own drum, thanks very much. Solo, if you don’t mind, and even if you do.
There’s been no rain here for 142 days-and-counting, but consider this boat floated.
Those roses and duckies are balm to the snow-and-ice-bound soul.
As that body of water must be to those enduring 142 days without rain.
Laurna – 🙂 Yes, the desert is a tough slog for plants and animals at the best of times, and this ain’t that.
Isabel – your bushy-tailed rodent looks a lot like a Richardson’s Ground Squirrel, otherwise known as a Gopher or Prairie Dog.
And your ducks striding down the street/beach. Is that the same as proceeding by foot?
John – When I first laid eyes on it I thought it was a squirrel, but I think your ID of ground squirrel (of some sort) is likely to be right. And yes, they’re proceeding by webbed foot, all right. 🙂
Nice mid-winter summery photos!
Love the ducks particularly
Jim R – I have no idea what the escaped domestic duck was doing with the mallards, but they were a threesome on sea and on land.
