Yeah, no. This angle of attack won’t work.
Yeah, no. This phone camera won’t cut it.
Ah. Now we have it: the right place to stand, and the right camera in hand.
Herons are among my favourite birds for photographic subjects. Even the small ones, like this green heron, are big enough to be seen clearly, to be identified easily. Stealthy hunters, they would never be caught flitting. Instead, they spend a lot of time standing stock-still in or beside water. When they also stand in the sun, it’s perfect.
Nice collection of a nice “little” bird
Don’t forget to tell them they are welcome to come back to Canada in the spring
Jim R – Many thanks. I’ll stop by before we leave Phoenix and make sure they get the word.
I love seeing birds in their “context”, in this case, the reeds and water. Discerning the bird in the camouflage of the stalks makes me feel like I am there.
Judith – 🙂 I certainly *want* candid/context photos, but often the birds are too fast for me. These guys, though — well, even I would have to be a lot slower than I am not to have a good shot at a good shot.
Wonderful photos, Isabel.
Tom
Many thanks.
